WFR FFA State Horse Evaluation Champions
WILLIAMSTON - The WFR FFA Chapter is the 2012 NC FFA State Horse Evaluation Champions. The members finished 1st in a 40 school competition at Martin Community College
The team members were Kendall Wolford, Sara Bickers, Taylor Fox and Ginsey Temple. Wolford was the highest scoring individual in the entire competition. The team now advances to compete for the national title at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in late October.
The FFA Horse Evaluation CDE is a competitive activity that tests the student’s ability to select and evaluate horses and their riders. Event components include eight selection classes that consisted of four halter classes and four performance classes. Students also give two sets of oral reasons with one coming from each halter and performance classes. The WFRHS students competed against more than 50 teams from across North Carolina.
The school’s Junior Division team placed sixth in the competition. They competed against 40 other teams from across the state. The team members were Bianca Bassnight, Lessie Hall, Mariah Jeter and Moriah Van Voorhis. This is the first time half of this team’s members competed in a FFA event.
